Areas of rain over much of the UK will sink southwestwards during the night and gradually ease. The heaviest rain is expected over south Wales and southwest England where some large accumulations are likely. Becoming windier.
Thursday:
A breezy day with showers for parts of England and Wales, these heavy at times. Some more persistent rain arriving in the east later. Northern Ireland and Scotland mostly dry.
Outlook for Friday to Sunday:
Showers or spells of rain, locally heavy and thundery, for many parts Friday; mostly dry and bright in the northwest. Heavy showers breaking out widely Saturday, further showers on Sunday
